SHLSHKD - The Reins LP / Freedom Rock EP [2005-06, remix 2025]
In 2005 near my beginnings in the studio I met a band called SHLSHKD. They’d crafted some heavily political punk/post-punk/post-hardcore and it was an extremely exciting thing to record. The band ran its course and over the years I’ve worked with the members a lot, especially guitar man Sam Rasiotis who went on to found Dirty Wings and most recently Nervous with whom I’ve done several recordings. I was delighted to learn the band was interested in a 20 year remix-remaster-reissue of their killer album THE REINS so I dug out the files from old hard drives and made a powerful new mix of this album which hit particularly hard now in our current American dystopia. Additionally, I mixed a killer unreleased 6 song EP called FREEDOM ROCK. -TH
